Cake Trays is a family-run bakery in Dagenham, East London. We offer same-day delivery across East London on days with open slots, covering 39 postcode districts from Stratford to Romford and Chigwell. The calendar below shows today's real status, so you can see straight away whether a slot is still free.
The calendar reads straight from the booking system we use at checkout, so it is the real picture, not a guess. If today is marked open, you can still book a delivery slot for today. If it is not, the first open date is the soonest we can bring a cake to you. These are our general dates. The cake you choose has its own preparation time, and the date picker at checkout only offers days that cake can be ready.
Can I get a cake delivered today?
Sometimes, and the calendar above is the honest answer. Every cake is baked to order in our kitchen, so what we can take on today depends on the orders already booked for the day. While there is room, today stays open at checkout. Once the slots are gone, today closes and the next open date appears instead.
We don't work to a fixed cut-off time, and we would rather show you that a day is full than promise a cake we can't make properly. So the simplest approach is to check the calendar, choose your cake and pick your slot at checkout. If today is available for that cake, you will see it. If it isn't, you will see the first day that is.

How same-day ordering works
-
Choose your cake. Browse the ranges below and add names, ages or a message in the personalisation box on the product page.
-
Choose delivery or collection in the cart. Select Local Delivery or Pickup, then pick a date and a two hour window.
-
Let the calendar do the checking. Each cake has its own preparation time built into the checkout calendar, so you only ever see dates that cake can genuinely be ready for.
-
Pay and it is booked. Your slot is held once the order is placed, and we bake the cake fresh for that day.
Some cakes need more notice than others. Custom designs, tiered cakes and wedding, nikkah or engagement cakes take longer to plan, bake and decorate, so they rarely fit a short-notice slot. If you already know your date, order your cake in advance and it is one less thing to think about.
Cakes worth checking first
Everyday celebration cakes and trays tend to need the least notice. Open any of them and the date picker at checkout shows the earliest date for that exact cake.
Heart cakes suit anniversaries, birthdays and apologies alike, and you can add a short message on top.
Trays are the easy answer when you need to feed a room: an office birthday, a family visit or a school event.
If today is already full
You still have good options. Tomorrow is often the practical choice, and our next day cake delivery page explains how tomorrow's slots work. You can also collect from our kitchen in Dagenham if a collection slot is open. And if the celebration is a few days away, book the date now so it is off your list.
Sending a cake to someone else
A same-day cake makes a good gift: a birthday someone nearly forgot, a thank you, or a congratulations that can't wait. Use the recipient's postcode at checkout, not your own, and add your message in the personalisation box. Our cake gift delivery page covers gifting in more detail, and cake gift boxes are a neat option when you want something ready to hand over.
Same day cake delivery questions
Can I get a cake delivered today?
It depends on today's open slots. The calendar at the top of this page shows today's real status. If today is open, you can choose it at checkout. If it is not, the first open date is the soonest we can deliver.
Is there a cut-off time for same-day orders?
There is no fixed cut-off time. Today stays open at checkout while there are slots left and closes once they are booked, so the earlier you check, the more choice of time you have.
Which areas do you deliver to?
We deliver to 39 postcode districts across East London and the Essex edge: E1 to E4, E6, E7, E10 to E18 and E20, IG1 to IG9 and IG11, and RM1 to RM13. Outside those districts we can't deliver, but you can collect from our kitchen in Dagenham.
Why can't I choose today for the cake I want?
Every cake has its own preparation time built into the checkout calendar. Custom, tiered and wedding cakes need more notice, so their earliest date is later. A simpler design may still fit today, or you can book your cake for a later date.
Can I choose a delivery time?
Yes. Delivery is booked in two hour windows that you choose at checkout, from the slots still open on the day.
Is a same-day cake still baked fresh?
Yes. Every cake is baked to order for the day it goes out. Nothing is baked in advance and frozen.
What if today is fully booked?
Choose the next open date, collect from our kitchen in Dagenham if a collection slot is open, or see our next day cake delivery page to book tomorrow.
